DONCASTER Rovers midfielder Mark Wilson is set to put pen to paper on a new deal this week.
"Everything has been agreed and we are hopeful that it will be all tied up in the next day or so," said Rovers No 2 Richard O'Kelly.
"Mark is a fantastic professional and in addition to what he did himself out on the field, the influence he also had on the other players was really good.
"He's played at the top level with Manchester United and Middlesbrough and he brings a lot of good things to the club.
"He is an intelligent footballer; he knows a lot about the game and he has a good insight into what is going on.
"He understands the fitness side of the game and the nutrition and sports science and is very interested in all that sort of thing.
"Mark has gone on record as saying that he wants to get into coaching and, possibly, management in the future and he is certainly on the way to do that sort of thing in a few years'time.
"Mark is one of those players who could play well into his thirties. He has got a good technique and he looks after himself so he has a good chance of carrying on playing for a few years yet."
Wilson is currently recovering from a close season hernia operation.
He missed the last two months of the league campaign, as well as the league One promotion play-offs, after suffering a serious groin injury in the 2-1 home win over Gillingham in early March,
Wilson had been a regular in the first half of the season, but had lost his place to Paul Green and the game against the Gills was only his second start of the year.
Defender Sean McDaid, who also missed out on the promotion run-in after dislocating a knee cap in a behind-closed-doors friendly, has been given the go-ahead to resume full training."
