SOUTHEND United fans are claiming they will be able to get one over semi-final opponents Doncaster Rovers ... whatever the score on Friday.
The Shrimpers say they will be sending more travelling fans to South Yorkshire than went the other way from Donny to Essex, last Friday for the first leg of the League One play-off semi-final, which finished 0-0.

Southend sold 1,069 tickets to season ticket-holders in 24 hours, before others went on general sale.

That compares to 826 Rovers followers who filled part of one end at Roots Hall.

Having said that, Donny took the maximum amount (an impressive 1,544) to Cheltenham in the last league game of the season.

The Shrimpers say: "The full away allocation at the Keepmoat Stadium is 3,213 so there are plenty available."

To further tempt fans up north, Southend chairman Ron Martin has put on free coaches for the game as their vocal support will be "hugely important", he says.

Tickets for home fans went on general sale yesterday.

Manager Sean O'Driscoll said: "The Southend fans created a great atmosphere – so if we can get 15,000 in at the Keepmoat and do the same, it will put Southend under the same pressure."

Southend's average home game during the season was 8,173, just ahead of Rovers, who averaged 7,978, just over half the Keepmoat capacity.
Southend and Donny were sixth and seventh best supported teams in League One.

Leeds United - who must overcome a 2-1 home first leg defeat by Carlisle in the other semi-final play-off - came top with an average league gate of 25,720. Nottingham Forest came behind Leeds with 19,956.
