Rovers boss Sean O'Driscoll offered Pressley the chance to play and train with Rovers after receiving a series of favourable reports on him from north of the border.

Rovers will hold a public training session at the Keepmoat Stadium from 11.30am onwards during their annual Open Day tomorrow (11am-4pm).

Rovers Supporters' Club chairman Len South is urging more fans to become members.

With the price of fuel and the cost of travelling by train both having soared in recent months, South says that there has never been a better time to be a member of the Supporters' Club.

"Because the cost of diesel has gone through the roof in the last few months that is going to be reflected in the prices being charged by coach firms and we will have to pass that on to people travelling with us to matches, " he said.

"But we will try and keep the increases as low as possible and in any event we will still offer the cheapest way to get to games next season.

"You don't have to be a member of the Supporters' Club to travel with us but it makes financial sense because with members receiving a £2 discount for coach travel you can recover the cost of membership in just three away games."

The Supporters' Club official says that it is vital that fans get behind Rovers in their first season in the Championship in 50 years.

"I know that money is tight for a lot of people due to the current financial situation, but it is imperative that we take sufficient support to make ourselves heard in bigger stadiums and bigger crowds than we encountered in most away games last season.

"I am pretty confident that we'll have a good following in the first game at Derby, and for the first half-dozen or so away games. But numbers might start to drop after that - though much will depend on results."

The Supporters' Club will be running a coach to both pre-season away games at Morecambe and Port Vale. Seats can be booked by ringing South on Doncaster 817347 or Paul Mayfield on 07740 453066.

Rovers have donated books to Doncaster College to help teach its youth trainees.

The College is teaching the club's youngsters in their goal to secure a professional sporting qualification – a BTEC National Certificate in Sport (Performance and Excellence).

The club donated 20 textbooks to the College as part of their ongoing partnership.
