DONCASTER Rovers boss Sean O'Driscoll looks likely to change a winning team for tonight's Carling Cup first-round tie against Notts County.
O'Driscoll was due to finalise his line-up for the club's first trip to Meadow Lane since the 1997-98 campaign, but hinted he was looking to make changes.
"We've got a strong a squad as Doncaster have had so within the squad we've got to be practical what we do," he said.
"There is no point in flogging the players to death in a difficult league and being out on their feet after the first month of the season."
But O'Driscoll was quick to fend off any suggestion that he was treating the competition lightly.
"Tonight's game is important as any other game in that we want to go out and perform and do well," he said.
"Doncaster have had a good reputation in the Cup over the last few years and we want to keep that going.
"Notts County have re-assembled their team and to play anyone from a lower division in the Cup is always going to be difficult."
Rovers will have skipper Adam Lockwood, who missed much of the pre-season campaign and Saturday's Champ-ionship opener at Derby with a groin injury, available tonight.
Striker Paul Heffernan is also available after missing the club's last three games, including last season's League One promotion play-off final.
"It has been a long suspension in terms of time for Paul following a moment of frustration I think rather than madness, and it ruled him out of a couple of big games," said O'Driscoll.
"But to be fair to him he handled it well. He didn't let it get him down and he has been good about the place and he trained extremely well in pre-season even though he knew he'd not be involved in the first league game.
"You have to give him credit for his attitude and workrate so he'll definitely come back into the squad tonight."
Fellow striker Jason Price, who had an injection in the ankle he had operated on during pre-season late last week, is again expected to miss out.
While Rovers were beating Derby County 1-0, tonight's opponents were going down by the odd goal in three in their League Two opener at Bradford.
They are still without first-choice keeper Russell Hoult, yet to make an appearance since breaking his leg, and midfielder Gavin Strachan.
The son of Gordon Strachan, the midfielder has been dogged by injury since moving to the club in January. He is currently out with a hamstring problem.
County could decide to rest defender Michael Johnson, who was doubtful for Saturday's game. Adam Tann would come in.
Magpies have slashed admission prices to £10 (adults) and £5 (concessions).
