DONCASTER Rovers finally got their man this morning when completing the permanent signing of Manchester City defender Matthew Mills.
The centre-back, who has been the club's top target during the close season, put pen to paper on a three-year deal.
Despite being linked with a possible move to Swansea City, the 22 year-old said that Rovers were always the club he wanted to sign for.
"After the final was over, there wasn't really a decision to make on my part," he said. "I always wanted to come here and it was just the case of Manchester City allowing me to.
"With all the experience that I had last year and the memories of the highs, there has always been a good feeling to come back and now I have, I'm delighted."
Mills spent two periods on loan with Rovers last season - only leaving over the Christmas period due to a knee injury sustained in training.
Throughout both spells, he established himself as an imposing centre-half with a maturity beyond his years and a superb reading of the game.
Swindon-born Mills started his career at Southampton as a teenager.
He went out on loan to Bournemouth, where he first made first contact with Rovers boss Sean O'Driscoll.
The 18 year-old impressed O'Driscoll, with the manager making the same impression on Mills.
Mills was sold to Manchester City, where he had featured in a few first-team games before coming on a long-term loan to Rovers last term.
He made 41 appearances for Rovers last season, scoring three goals.
His last game for the club was in their League One play-off final win over Leeds United at Wembley in May.
