DONCASTER Rovers are urging their supporters to get behind rugby league neighbours the Dons in their bid to win promotion back to National League One during football's close season.
All of the club's 7,000 season- ticket-holders will be able to gain admission to tonight's game against Workington Town at the Keepmoat Stadium (8pm) for half the regular admission price of £12 on production of their season ticket.
"A lot of Dons
supporters also watch the Rovers and a lot of them will have gone down to Wembley for the League One promotion play-off final against Leeds last month," said Rovers media manager Steve Uttley today.
"The club feel that it would be nice to see some Rovers fans repaying the compliment both tonight and in next week's Northern Rail Cup Final at Blackpool,"
n Meanwhile, Sheffield Wednesday will not encourage any move for defender Richard Wood.
Coventry City manager Chris Coleman is believed to be an admirer of the young central defender and the Sky Blues are understood to be interested.
However, Wednesday boss Brian Laws will not encourage any pursuit of Wood - who regained his first-team spot late last season after three months out following surgery on a dislocated shoulder.
Wood's performance in the goalless draw at Coventry on March 15 is believed to have caught the eye of Coleman, the ex-Fulham boss who played in centre defence for Wales.
There has been speculation in the Midlands that Coventry are interested but Laws commented: "It's news to me."
The latest on the Owls takeover saga suggests that completion may not be far away, with the Geoff Sheard-led consortium poised to sort matters out, probably in the next week or 10 days.
After suggestions that Laws' position could be under threat with new owners looking to install their own man, it now seems likely that Laws will receive a 'carry on' message.
