DONCASTER Rovers will be willing their rugby league neighbours to victory in Sunday's Northern Rail Cup final against Salford on Sunday.
"On behalf of the club I would like to wish the club every success against Salford," said chief executive Dave Morris.
"We were delighted when we secured a place in the Coca Cola Championship at Wembley and it was really exciting to see our Keepmo
at Stadium neighbours reach their first cup final in their 57-year history.
"Ellery Hanley and his players have worked hard for their success and they should be congratulated,
"Last year we beat Bristol Rovers in the final of the Johnstone's Paints Trophy and that proved to be a springboard to greater success for us. We hope that reaching the Northern Rail Cup final will do the same for the rugby league club.
"The success of the two clubs who share the fantastic Keepmoat facility is wonderful news for the sports fans of Doncaster. It ensures that our town, which is one of the most important communities in both South Yorkshire and the north of England, is able to host more and more top-quality sport".
The town's elected mayor, Martin Winter, also wished the club well.
"It is a fantastic achievement for Doncaster Rugby League club and well deserved," he said.
"To reach their first ever cup final is another big step up for sport in our town and follows on from the Rovers' success. With all our sporting achievements there's no doubt that Doncaster is on the up and we are all very proud of what our teams have accomplished."
Rovers' bid to of sign Manchester City defender Matt Mills has been put on hold due to a change of manager at the Premiership club.
Although Rovers have agreed a club-record £300,000 deal with City for the young centre-back who spent most of last season on loan at the club, new boss Mark Hughes wants to run the rule over players he inherited before making any decisions and he has included Mills in a pre-season tour of Germany.
