VERSATILE defender/midfielder James Chambers is confident that the Doncaster Rovers will do better than his last Championship club.
Chambers, who had previously won promotion three times in his career, suffered his first relegation with Leicester City last season.

"It is the first time that the club have played at this level for 50 years so everyone will probably have been a bit apprehensive at the start of the season," he told The Star this week.

"But I think that we've shown that we can more than match most of the teams that we've come up against so far - what we will do against the rest of the teams I don't know at this moment in time.

What do you think? Post your comments below.

"But by picking up seven points from our first four games it shows that the club have been able to maintain the momentum built up from last season and that is always important for any promoted team.

"As well as picking up some good results in our opening games, I am sure that the supporters will have been very pleased with the performances as well.

"It was a great strike by Richie (Wellens) against Coventry on Saturday and people pay a lot of money to see goals like that in the Premiership."

"These are exciting times for the club but we've got to keep our feet on the floor and continue to do so for the rest of the season.

"It is important that we don't get carried away. We've only played four games in the league.

"It is important that we start well after the international break because we've got three tough games in eight days.

"But if we continue to play how we can play we'll always have a chance in any game."

n Rovers have scored another winner with the DVD - Ashes To Glory.

The professionally-produced DVD charts the club's rise from the ashes of their disastrous relegation from the old Third Division to the Conference in 1997-98 to last season's League One promotion play-off victory over Leeds United at Wembley.

The contrast between today's Doncaster Rovers and the club of a decade ago couldn't be more marked.

Rovers are now plying their trade in the Championship, playing in front of regular five-figure crowds in a new state-of-the-art stadium boasting a highly respected manager and backroom team and arguably the best squad in their history.

Ten years ago Rovers were in turmoil.
