DONCASTER Rovers players reported back for pre-season training today as the build-up to their first campaign in the second tier of English football got under way.
It was the first time that new signing from Burnley, John Spicer, had met most of his new team-mates.

Several familiar faces were missing today's sessions with Paul Green, Steve Roberts, Graeme Lee and Mark McCammon all having left since the end of last season.

The players, who have been following a fitness programme for the last couple of weeks, hit the ground running today.

They have just two more days preparation prior to Wednesday's first warm-up game away to local Northern Counties East League side, Rossington Main.

The game is all ticket with a maximum crowd allowed in to the ground being 1,700.

The club's Cantley Park training ground has had a state-of-the-art pop-up sprinkler system installed since the end of the season.

Said director of football, Mickey Walker: "We have a project every year to improve the training ground and this year it is the sprinkler system.

"It will enable the groundsmen to water and irrigate all the training pitches as well as any specific Sean (O'Driscoll) wants to use.

"We've also done some work on the pitches at the training ground and we've also upgraded the dressing room."
