SOUTH Yorkshire's Paul Goodison looks set to win a gold medal tomorrow at the Beijing Olympics.
The Laser class sailor would have to finish last or sink in the finale, and Sweden's Rasmus Myrgren finish first, to be denied his Olympic dream.

It follows three strong performances today, Monday, August 18.

The Sheffield born 30-year-old Bla
des fan, inspired by his team's win at the weekend, won the day's opening race in Qingdao and added subsequent finishes of fourth and sixth, establishing an 18-point lead.

Goodison was heartbroken to finish in fourth place in Athens, missing the podium by the smallest of margins.

"This means everything, to come back from all the heartache and prove to myself I can be number one," said Goodison, who now spends his time living betweeen Rotherham and Weymouth.

"I'm a Sheffield United fan and I was delighted to hear they won at the weekend."

He goes for gold in Beijing tomorrow, August 19, from 6am (BST).
