A MAN who has played a leading role in Rotherham's regeneration over the past five years has landed a top new job.
Paul Woodcock is taking on the key role of director of Rotherham Council's Planning and Regeneration team.

The new team brings together two existing departments - Rotherham Investment and Development Office, and Planning and Transportation - to provide a more streamlined service.

Mr Woodcock has worked in local government for the last 15 years, much of it spent driving forward massive regeneration programmes such as the Thames Gateway in London.

Part of his commitment to regeneration is based on personal experience - he grew up in the coalfield area of North Derbyshire and saw for himself how industrial decline could damage communities.

He said: "It's a fantastic time to have been appointed to this position. Rotherham is going through an enormous period of change."
