PROJECTS to create jobs for disadvantaged youths in Sheffield and improve communication between Rotherham council staff and disabled people are to get extra funding.
Communities and Local Government secretary Hazel Blears announced handouts totalling £1.5 million for 16 Beacon projects across England.

Sheffield Council has received a share of the funding for its innovative schemes providing jobs for disadvanta
ged youths through building maintenance contractor Kier and the way it has made efficiency savings whilst maintaining services.

Rotherham Council's project I'm a Person Too aims to develop training to improve skills of council and public agency staff in communicating with people who have learning disabilities.
