ROTHERHAM Council is helping people object to plans to axe six of the town's post offices.
Council bosses are setting up a website where people will be able to post their comments on the closure plans unveiled a week ago.
People can also write to the council with their views.
The threatened post offices are at Salisbury Road, Maltby
, St Ann's Road in the town centre, Wortley Road at Kimberworth, Whinney Hill at Thrybergh, and Parkgate and Harley.
The council is compiling people's views ready for a meeting with Post Office officials on September 12 to discuss the proposed closures.
Post Office bosses say the proposal to close 2,500 outlets across the country will make the network more viable and sustainable. It says the way people now pay for services means fewer customers use the post offices.
Glyn Whelbourn, chairman of the council's Performance and Scrutiny Overview Committee, said: "Responding to consultation on proposed closures is never a circumstance we would want to be in.
"However, we will work with councillors and local MPs to determine our response. That is why we would ask local residents that if they have any views to submit to us via our website or in a letter.
"We will consider all the facts and look at how the proposals would affect those areas. We want to ensure that if the proposals go ahead, that local people will not be disadvantaged."
