PUPILS will benefit from a range of new facilities when work is completed on the refurbishment of a South Yorkshire school.
Aston Fence Primary, between Sheffield and Rotherham, is to be updated at a cost of more than £2.4 million.

The work, due to be completed later this year, will mean the school's temporary classrooms being knocked down and replaced by a new extensi
on designed to cope with rising pupil numbers.

There will be four new classrooms, a hall, dining area, kitchen and toilets, as well as better IT facilities and extra storage.

Shaun Wright, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People's Services, said: "I am delighted to see this work get underway so the pupils and staff can enjoy the benefits new facilities have already brought to other schools around the town."

The new-look school has been designed by Rotherham Council's own design team and funding has come from its own budget.

More than £5.8 million has been set aside for the work at Aston Fence and two other projects at Thorpe Hesley Infants and Anston Brook Primary.
