Calling former Barnsley Women Against Pit Closures – your memories are needed for a special exhibition.
Thirty years after the miners’ strike of 1984, Experience Barnsley is looking for women to tell their stories ahead of a special anniversary exhibition.
Women are invited to visit Barnsley Town Hall on Saturday, January 25, from 11am to 2pm, to meet the team.
Coun Roy Miller, council cabinet member for culture, said: “The WAPC movement empowered many women to take a public role in what was a male-dominated community.
“I’m sure there are some fascinating stories throughout Barnsley – you are a very important part of social and political history.”
The exhibition opens on Monday, March 3.
It runs alongside a whole programme of events and activities throughout the year to tell the story of the miners’ strike.
