The history of one of Sheffield’s most historic buildings was revealed to Retro Club members yesterday.
Scores of readers turned out to hear The Story of Sheffield Cathedral: 900 years of Sheffield History in One Building.
The talk was given by the Cathedral’s heritage learning officer Janet Ridler, who also writes a regular column in weekend Retro.
It was free to Club members and the first of its kind during the transformation work currently taking place there.
The diggers were halted temporarily for the talk which went back to Sheffield’s origins and right up to the present day.
There was also a chance to get the latest information on the building work and see it at first hand. You can find out about upcoming Retro Club events and join, free of charge, by completing the form in Saturday’s Retro.
