UP the hill on the outskirts of south-west Sheffield you'll find a little piece of China.
Under new ownership with a new name that strays away from the usual lion, golden or moon references, the new young proprietors have introduced a menu that offers all the usual choices with a few colourful additions.
The list of dishes isn't as sp
rawling as some its rivals - which for someone as indecisive as yours truly is a blessing in disguise - but it does offer neat sections to help with the decision making, including a brief Thai selection.
Something of a compromise dish in that it is not quite full-on Thai or totally Chinese is the Chicken in Thai chilli sauce which comes with a definite hot kick and a sweet respite. The slightly sticky sauce is dotted with fiery red chillies, which instantly make their presence known, and crunchy slices of onion.
The menu lacks brief explanation of its dishes so doesn't inform that your chicken comes battered, although the batter is soft and the chicken in nice bite size chunks - so you don't end up feeling as guilty as if you'd eaten sweet and sour pork.
The Kung Po King Prawn with cashew nuts is a similar dish but with enough subtle differences to make it worth sharing a plate with the chicken. The sauce is slightly redder in colour and less lively on the heat but the prawns, again in batter without indication on the menu, are well nourished and in decent number. They are kept company by thin slices of carrot and onions.
The Yung Chow Fried Rice was light and not too busy, in spite of being laced with egg and pork to form a main dish in its own right.
With a steady, salty portion of crispy seaweed to provide colour and alternative texture - and some prawn crackers thrown in gratis - this was a sturdy Sunday evening treat that didn't feel too naughty, despite the involvement of the batter.
Of course, naming your takeaway Yo Yo leaves room for some quips - such as what goes down can sometimes come up - but the only thing up and down here was me to the kitchen to get another few spoonfuls.
