WINGER Simon Whaley is eager to land a permanent stay at Barnsley.
He is currently on loan from Preston North End and could leave after Oakwell next weekend but said: "Who knows what will happen at the end of the loan and I could end up here.

"It is a huge incentive to do well because I am playing for my future and the rest of my career."

The 23-year-old, who joined Barnsley on a month-long loan on November 7, has been limited to just two appearances due to a foot infection but luckily found the net in Monday's 3-2 victory over Burnley, deflecting a shot from Jamal Campbell-Ryce in. The goal stood even though Whaley was clearly offside.

His chances of staying at Oakwell will have been boosted by news that Martin Devaney is expected to be out for two months with an ankle injury.
