BARNSLEY have been left be-moaning the Championship time-out for international games after their best win since April.
Simon Davey's team, who dismantled Doncaster Rovers 4-1 on Saturday will not play again until October 18 at Crystal Palace because World Cup qualifying matches take place this week.

Assistant-manager Ryan Kidd said: "We won just before the last internationals against Derby and then followed that up with a defeat at Blackpool. So ideally we'd like another game to come tomorrow but that is not the case."

Ten-man Barnsley fought back from 1-0 down to defeat Rovers. It was the best win at Oakwell since last season's 3-0 victory over Charlton.

Defender Darren Moore was red-carded for a professional foul and will miss the match at Crystal Palace a week on Saturday.

Davey's position before the win was under scrutinty and although the club remain in the league's bottom three, Kidd confidently forecast more success.

"I think the fans can see especially from the second half performance those players are behind us as a staff," he said.

"We are a good team. We have been unlucky with our results this year. We haven't put in really many bad performances at home or on the road. We just needed a little bit of belief or a little bit of luck to come our way."

He added: "The fans could see those players putting a little bit of pride and determination into playing for the club, the manager and themselves and we can go on a run from this position and win four or five games on the spin to take ourselves up to midtable.

"It's not all doom and gloom. We have plenty of belief in those players. They're a good crop, they're young enough and hungry enough to succeed."

Barnsley have two players in international action this week. Jamal Campbell-Ryce was flying out to join the Jamaican squad today and Iain Hume was travelling to Florida to meet up with Canadian team-mates.

Both were scorers against Doncaster but Campbell-Ryce highlighted the incident which led to Darren Moore's sending off.

"You might look at Darren's sending off and say that he's saved us the game," he said.

"If he lets the lad go, we're 2-0 down and that's the game, set and match. So took a red card and the lads all dug in together and we got the goals.

"I'm not saying that him getting sent off has done us a world of good, but it was a bit of fortune, he stopped them getting a one-on-one and potentially scoring and went up the other end and bagged four goals so it was great team performance.

"Fair play to Doncaster, I thought they played some fantastic football, you could say with no real cutting edge."
