BARNSLEY have taken Derby County winger Gary Teale on loan for a month.
Teale, formerly at Wigan, trained with the Reds yesterday as manager Simon Davey sought to cover the loss of Jamal Campbell-Ryce who will be out for a further month due to a cracked bone in his elbow.
Teale 30, and capped by Scotland 11 times on the right flank, joined Derby in last year from Wigan Athletic for £600,000 when Paul Jewell was Wigan manager but who is now boss at Derby.
He is one of several players who may find their chances limited at Pride Park and the winger is taking the opportunity to put himself in the shop window.
He made 34 appearances in Derby's disastrous slide to Premiership relegation last season but also had 12 games on loan at Plymouth.
Meanwhile, Barnsley have yet to confirm whether they beat yesterday's international clearance deadline for Argentine midfielder Hugo Colace.
