BARNSLEY 2 v CHENGDU BLADES 0: THE Chinese Blades were reduced to nine and well beaten at Barnsley, who got goals through Denis Souza and a Jon Macken penalty.
Jamaican Demar Stewart was red carded and likewise multi-cap winner Li Tie marched off before the end for two bookable offences.

Stewart was booked in the first half for a foul on Iain Hume, a second assault on the same player was enough for Premier League referee Stuart Attwell to order him off. He also gave a penalty which Macken stroked home comfortably.

With a minute remaining Li Tie, the former Sheffield United player, took the walk of shame, yellow carded for dissent and then booked again for taking down Kayode Odejayi.

Barnsley were well on top in the first half but had to wait until the last minute to take the lead. A left wing corner from midfielder El Haimour was won by Darren Moore. He found Macken who flicked on to Denis Souza and he stabbed the ball in from close.

Earlier Fu Bing had been busy in the Chengdu goal. Inside the first 60 seconds he saved a close range header from Jamal Campbell-Ryce.

The lanky Chinese keeper also made decent stops from Macken eight yards out and Martin Devaney who hit one from 25 yards.

Chengdu claimed a penalty as Brazilian striker Danielson sped past Moore.

The Barnsley centre back's recovery tackle took the ball and the player. Referee Attwell turned away appeals.
