FANS' favourite Istvan Ferenczi plus former Player of the Year contender Sam Togwell have been put on the transfer list by Barnsley.
They join Paul Reid, Andy Johnson and Kim Christensen in being told by manager Simon Davey that they can leave.
The news comes just months after 30-year-old striker Ferenczi won back his place in the Hungarian squad.
He joined Barnsley in January from Zalaegerszeg alongside Peter Rajczi. While Rajczi, also Hungarian, returned to Ujpest Dozsa after a four-month loan spell, Ferenczi scored six vital goals in the struggle to avoid relegation from the Championship two seasons ago.
In the season just gone 25 league starts brought only five goals and he found himself on the bench.
Togwell made only 10 starts in the Championship last term, having been virtually ever present the previous campaign with some 44 starts.
He was snatched away from Port Vale in May 2005. He had been on loan there from Crystal Palace.
He was a first-pick player under previous Barnsley manager Andy Ritchie and remained in the team as Simon Davey steered the club clear of the drop in 2007.
He started off in Davey's team last season but lost out when the club recruited Anderson de Silva from Everton to play in central midfield alongside skipper Brian Howard. When de Silva became injured defender Bobby Hassell was preferred to 23-year-old Togwell.
In two years he started 58 games for Barnsley, scoring just twice.
Davey said: "Sam and Istvan have not been involved as much as they would have liked. It would not be fair to them to sit them on the touchline for the next year when there are people in front of them.
"Sometimes players have to move for the sake of their own career and I have been honest with them about that."
Davey is known to want to bring another striker in. Ferenczi's impending departure coupled with that of Daniel Nardiello and Michael Coulson's serious knee injury has added urgency to the hunt.
