BARNSLEY start the ball-rolling in the campaign before the campaign tonight.
For a second successive pre-season the Championship side go to Buxton FC's Silverlands ground.
Last summer almost a dozen new players made their first appearance in a Barnsley shirt there and Simon Davey's squad brought back a 2-0 win over a Unibond Premiership side who made the play-offs last season.
Links between the clubs are strong. Davey and Buxton's assistant boss, Clive Freeman, are good pals who played at Swansea City together.
Davey however will miss tonight's game as he continues to recover from a neck injury.
Barnsley's owner, Patrick Cryne, lives near Buxton.
Tonight will also be a first opportunity for Buxton to parade their new players at the Silverlands. Ex-Sunderland and Scarborough attacking midfielder, Steve Brodie, made a scoring debut for the club last Saturday at Hatfield Main and manager John Reed, who last season replaced Nicky Law, is confident new forward Mark Hume will become a hit with the Buxton supporters.
Trialist Danny Smith should have a run out and will be keen to impress having been released by Barnsley in the summer.
