BARNSLEY look for and expect redemption tomorrow.
After the horrors of Tuesday's 6-0 slaughter by Wigan, Simon Davey's side tackle Chinese touring team, Chengdu Blades.

Although they play in the Chinese Super League, having won promotion last season, Barnsley will be favourites to win at Oakwell.

Chengdu were hammered by Chelsea 7-0 in a friendly to raise funds for Chinese earthquake victims.

Said Davey: "Chinese teams are always technically very good and they will be fit.

"They have not pushed onto the world stage yet because they are physically not strong enough at times but I am sure it will be the right test for us with the new season just a week away."

Barnsley were overpowered by Wigan, conceding three goals in each half and Davey wants a positive reaction to that humiliation ahead of the first Championship game at QPR.

Chengdu will not be a pushover test. The club, who are part owned by Sheffield United, have proven players including some imports.

Barnsley's Jamal Campbell-Ryce and Darren Moore will know all about Blades' defender Demar Stewart. All three players have won caps for Jamaica.

Chengdu have a Brazilian strike force in Danielson and Rodrigues.
The core of the side is Chinese with Li Tie, the best known. A midfielder, he played for Everton in the Premier League over 30 times before moving to Bramall Lane in 2006 and then returning home a year ago.

Defender Ji Mingyi, midfield man Wang Song plus striker Shi Jun are all Chinese internationals.

Wang Song is club captain and was top scorer in the 2007 promotion season with 17 goals in 24 games while Shi Jun was the first Chinese footballer to play in the Swiss Super League.
