TALENTED teenage striker Jamil Adam was back training with the academy lads today despite his three goals in two games for Barnsley.
Adam, who made his Championship debut as a sub in the final game of last season, struck twice in the 4-1 Friday night friendly win at Buxton, coming off the bench for Iain Hume. He followed up on Saturday with the equaliser in a 2-2 draw at Glossop.
"He's shown an eye for goal, which is very pleasing," said assistant boss Ryan Kidd. "But he's a young lad of only 17, he still has to mature physically. It's important that we don't pile too much pressure on him."
Barnsley pulled back a 2-0 deficit at Glossop with Diego Leon turning in a man-of-the-match performance after replacing Brian Howard at half-time.
"He turned the game. On a tight, bumpy pitch, he was the difference," Kidd added.
Winger Martin Devaney and transfer-listed striker Istvan Ferenczi missed both matches at the weekend with minor injuries but are in the running to play at Yeovil on Saturday in the third friendly of the summer.
Jamal Campbell-Ryce and Kayode Odejayi will also be in the reckoning for that trip. They returned to Oakwell a week later than the rest of the squad.
