NICK Colgan, one of the heroes of Barnsley's Championship promotion, could be on his way to Bradford City.
The former Irish international, released by Oakwell chief Simon Davey last season, had been at Ipswich but has left and is training with the League Two outfit.

Colgan entered Barnsley folklore in the 2005-06 season when his saves in the play-off final penalty shoot-out against Swansea took the club back to the second tier of English football after a four-year absence.

Colgan fell out of favour when Davey signed Heinz Muller last year.

Barnsley winger Martin Devaney looks set to miss the third pre-season friendly of the summer at Yeovil on Saturday.

The winger, who suffered a thigh injury last season, has aggravated the injury and is not training.

Striker Istvan Ferenczi did not feature in the weekend games at Buxton and Glossop because of a calf complaint. He will be given two or three days' more rest.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid full-back Michel Salgado could make his English League debut against Barnsley.

The 32-year-old claims he is considering an offer from QPR - Barnsley first opponents of the new season.

QPR's joint-owner, Flavio Briatore, has reportedly travelled to Spain with a view to discussing a deal with Salgado.

The experienced defender could be allowed to leave Real for a nominal fee before the start of the new season.

He says he has received an offer from QPR, but is yet to decide whether he wants to move to Loftus Road.

The FA Cup will be at Barnsley later this month.

The trophy, which was at the club twice during Barnsley's cup run to the semi-finals, will be at the club's open day on Sunday July 27, starting at 11am.

Barnsley Supporters Trust have organised with the FA for the cup to be on display.

Former Barnsley boss Glyn Hodges is set to join Manchester City as reserve-team boss.

Hodges, who managed Barnsley in 2002-3, was at Blackburn Rovers in a similar position.
