BARNSLEY will be without flying winger Jamal Campbell-Ryce longer than expected after his elbow injury proved worse than first feared.
As the Reds prepare for their opening home game against Coventry City tomorrow, the Jamaican international will have his arm in a full-length cast after further examination revealed a cracked bone.
He dislocated it in training just before the season began but a further scan has shown up the bone damage.
It will remain that way for three weeks, which means it will be more than a month before he can be considered for first-team duties again.
Reds boss Simon Davey will be looking at rejigging his side again as Chris Coleman brings Coventry to Oakwell for the first home game - they were the first Oakwell visitors on the opening day last season when they went back to the Midlands with a 4-1 win.
