BARNSLEY winger Jamal Campbell-Ryce has dubbed the current campaign a success despite the relegation threat which lingered until last weekend.
Just like last year, the club's survival in the Championship was only confirmed after the final home game.
But Campbell-Ryce stressed: "It's different to last season, we had that fantastic FA Cup run.
"There was disappointment losing in the semi-final but for a small team like Barnsley to get so far is a fantastic achievement.
"We should have got to the final but that's the way the cookie crumbles sometimes.
"We've survived another season in the Championship and we hope to build on that.
"We got further than most did so for me I think we've had a fantastic season, we just have to build on that."
The 25-year-old scored his fourth goal in Saturday's 3-0 win over Charlton despite carrying an injury for three weeks.
"I've had an ankle injury since the Watford game I've had four of five injections on it.
"At this stage of the season points were needed and by any means necessary," he explained.
"Now we're safe I can rest and start my holidays early. I was struggling but you've got to do what you can to get the team safe."
He forecast success. "We've got the right ingredients, the majority of the squad are going to stay together.
"There might be interest in certain players, who have done very, very well this season.
"If the gaffer can manage to keep the majority together. I think we've got a great opportunity.
"Some could say we were slightly distracted by the FA Cup run.
"We had a flying start to the season, we were up there in the table until December-January then we started to fall away.
"But our basic thought right now is that we're safe and we can go and enjoy our summer."
