MIGUEL Mostto has been given indefinite compassionate leave by Barnsley to return to South America.
The 29-year-old striker has gone back to Peru to be at the bedside of his sick son who is suffering a heart complaint.
Mostto, signed in July 2007 for more than £350,000, has made only four appearances as sub this season.
He was due to start against Doncaster Rovers on Saturday but was pulled out of the game when news of his eight-year-old son's illness broke.
Barnsley boss Simon Davey has sanctioned Mostto's trip home.
Michael Coulson, another striker at the club, is also on compassionate leave. He is mourning the death of his father, who died suddenly.
Coulson, aged 20, is recovering from surgery to repair a knee ligament.
On Saturday Davy opted for borrowed Blackburn Rovers striker Maceo Rigters to partner striker Iain Hume against Rovers.
Jon Macken came off the bench and scored with his first touch while Kayode Odejayi was an unused sub.
Odejayi will play for Barnsley Reserves in this evening's match at York City (7pm).
Record breaking schoolboy Reuben Noble-Lazarus, the youngest player ever to appear in the Football League, was also a replacement on Saturday and is in the reserves team for tonight.
Jamal Campbell-Ryce, away from Oakwell on international duty, was a late arrival in Jamaica, according to reports in the West indies.
The Barnsley winger is said to have missed his flight out of the UK.
Meanwhile Hugo Colace will be fit to return to the first team squad in time for the next match.
The Argentine missed Saturday's match with an ankle injury but will be available for the Championship fixture at Crystal Palace a week on Saturday. That game has a 5.20pm kick-off and is being screened live by Sky TV.
Meanwhile, Barnsley's home game with Sheffield Wednesday is all ticket. South Yorkshire Police have requested that all tickets for the game at Oakwell on Tuesday October 21 are bought in advance.
