DARREN Moore's one-match ban for his red card on Saturday won't be supplemented by blame from Barnsley boss Simon Davey.
The veteran centre-back was ordered off by ref Steve Tanner for a professional foul on Lewis Guy which prevented the Doncaster Rovers man a clear run through on goal.
Rovers were leading 1-0 when Moore hauled Guy down.
"Let's just say that he took the better of the two options," Davey declared.
Moore will miss Barnsley's next game, the trip to Crystal Palace on Saturday October 18.
"Darren showed a bit of nous. Less experienced defenders would not have done what he did and let the player go," Davey added.
There was no disputing the justice of the dismissal but Davey was critical of Tanner's ruling for Rovers' first half penalty.
"We played well for the first 10 minutes, then they got the penalty which wasn't a penalty for me and it rocked us a little bit," Davey explained.
"But we still had the better of the first half chances although Heinz (Muller) did pull off one save. They (Doncaster) will say they dominated the possession but they passed it about in front of us."
Down to 10 men, Davey boldly went for goals, leaving only two strikers on the pitch.
He was rewarded when Stephen Foster headed in the equaliser, Jamal Campbell-Ryce made it 2-1 before Jon Macken and Iain Hume registered for Barnsley in the 4-1 win.
"We went 3-4-2 and that seemed the galvanize the players," he said. "They got what they deserved. We haven't had much luck in the last three games. We'd missed a penalty, missed an open goal and the goalkeeper made two completely out of character errors. We deserved a bit of luck for the first goal although having said that it was header on target before it went through someone's legs.
"And then Jamal's goal was a candidate for goal of the season."
He added: "Before Saturday we hadn't scored in five games. I'm just pleased for the players. I never doubted there were goals in the side. They deserved what they got. Not once has one of them shirked anything in any training session."
Meanwhile, Barry Murphy is the guest speaker at tonight's meeting of Barnsley Supporters Trust at Oakwell's Legends' Suite, starting at 7pm.
