SIMON DAVEY's stock is rising - he's been linked with a possible job as Sir Alex Ferguson's deputy at Manchester United!
The Sunday Times yesterday claimed the Barnsley boss is on a list of possible candidates United are looking at as a replacement for Portugal bound Carlos Queiroz. The three names the paper linked are Davey, Simon Grayson of Blackpool and Swansea City's Roberto Martinez as well as Brian McClair, the Old Trafford academy director.
But Davey was quick to rule himself out.
"It is flattering to be linked with a club of such stature, but I have a job here," Davey said.
"We must be doing something right if I'm being linked with jobs like this.
"We still have a long way to go at Oakwell and we're all looking forward to the new season."
