TEACHERS didn't need the rain to get themselves wet at the first Kirk Sandall Infant and Junior Schools Summer Fayre on Saturday.
There was plenty of help on hand as brave staff volunteered to go in the stocks and be soaked by wet sponges at a fund-raiser for both schools.

Adrian Bagnall, headteacher at the junior school, and Janet Foster, headteacher at the infants, both volunteered to take part.

It was one of many activities at what was the first joint event to be run by the schools on both sites.

The scheme had originally been planned for the school fields, but many of the stalls and events were moved indoors because of wet weather.

But Sarah Marshall, vice-chairman of Kirk Sandall Infant School PTA, said there was no dampening the spirits of those who attended the event.

"It was great," she said. "I think the children had a great time, and we think it has raised more than £2,500 which will be split between the two schools."
