THE WARTIME spirit came flooding back when a Derbyshire village was catapulted back in time thanks to a 1940s makeover.
The spirit of the Blitz was captured at Renishaw Hall, in Renishaw, on the border of Sheffield and Derbyshire, when it hosted a Wartime Weekend.

Featuring military re-enactors, 40s fashions and wartime themed snacks, the festival was a real hit with the 21st Century guests.

Stalls selling military memorabilia and home baked cakes were set alongside a makeshift field hospital in the famous Renishaw Hall Gardens.

The two-day event, which ran from 10.30am until 4pm on Saturday and Sunday, also featured living history groups, military vehicles and 1940s entertainment.

Fancy dress was positively encouraged as was participation in the dance classes and there was even a visit by wartime Prime Minister Winston Churchill.

Those who were quick enough to snap up a ticket, were also treated to a We'll Meet Again dinner and concert on Saturday night.
