THERE was fun for all the family at the Mosborough Gala too – and the rain did nothing to stop people getting stuck in to having a good time there either.
The wet sponge throwing attraction had less of an impact since most people were already soaked through, but the host of other silly games, as well as a selection of stalls, all went down a storm.
Kids had their faces painted in bright colours and glitter, while a bouncy castle kept people's spirits up in spite of the miserable weather.
When the cold and wet got too much, the contingency plan was put into action and the events moved indoors to the Mosborough Miners' Welfare Club.
Games included pitch and putt and beat the goalie, and visitors competed against each other in the egg and spoon race, rounders, football and cricket matches.
Andy Sherritt, who spent five months organising Saturday's event, said: "I accounted for everything except the one thing I couldn't control – the weather!
"But we had a plan B and about half way through the day we just moved everything inside. It went really well, we had a lot of support and lots of people through the doors."
Proceeds from the gala will be split between the PACT charity – the parents' association of children with cancers and tumours – and Amy's Retreat - a charity for children with cancer.
