SATURDAY was a special one for 10-year-old Jessica Lees, who was this year's Beighton Princess.
She dressed up in fine style, sporting a frock, sash and tiara to be at the head of a parade through the village, before presiding over the annual gala, held at the Leisure Club, off High Street.

Entertainment ranged from a fun fair and stalls to displays of classic cars and the Sheffield American Civil War Society even broke separate world records for men and women firing the most ever rounds in three minutes, using vintage field guns.

The gala attracted 4,000 people. It was taking place for the first time since 2006, after last year's event had to be called off when fields where it was due to be staged were ruined by the floods and an alternative site could not be found.

Were you there? What did you think of the gala? Add your comment below.
