POSH frocks and dinner jackets were among the more unusual running attire on show when actors took to the streets of Doncaster for a fun run.
Members of the Phoenix Theatre Company put on a show in the 15th annual one mile fun run last night.

Five theatre members, who all ran in stage costumes in the first of the three town centre road races, raised more than £200.

The money will go towards the £25,000 cost of their annual production at the Civic Theatre in November, which this year will be Cole Porter's Anything Goes. Cast member Amanda Alderson took time out before the start to appeal through The Star for more males to help boost the cast.

David Collingwood, who normally organises races on behalf of the Askern club along with brother Mick, ran around with his daughter-in-law Jayne, aged 39, and grandchildren Joseph, seven, and three-year-old William.

The race got underway on Hallgate and finished at Clock Corner Fifteen- year-old Doncaster Athletic Club runner Robert Konstandelos won the event, which attracted a field of 159.

Clubmate Myles St Clare was second.
