GEOFF Sheard is prepared to accept a delay in his proposed takeover of Sheffield Wednesday and is determined to try to see it through.
Consortium front man Sheard said earlier this week that he hoped for a resolution within days.
But the need for a ballot of Wednesdayite members and for agreement with other major shareholders Keith Addy and Geoff Hulley will hold up his plans though a deal with Dave Allen has been lined up.
"I believe there is a willingness from everyone to move forward. I hope there is," he told The Star.

"I'd like to be in before the start of the season on August 9. With the greatest will in the world, I can't tell you when we'll be in. I'm convinced we have a very good proposal with what we want to do."
Sheard awaits talks with Geoff Hulley and he refused to comment on Keith Addy's reaction as he has not yet seen Addy's letter.
Addy has revealed that Sheard's offer to him for his shares contains no details of investment or plans for the club, and the former director has suggested to Sheard that any future communication be addressed to the Owls' financial advisers.
Wednesdayite could today announce that their board are to ballot members on Sheard's offer for the group's 10 per cent shareholding, on the basis of back-up information received so far from his lawyers.
Chairman Darryl Keys, who believes that the group should ballot now, said: "We have circulated a package of information to our board members.
"Ultimately we can only rely on what information we have. In some people's eyes, that will not be enough. Others will be completely satisfied. "If we go to ballot it will be up to each of our 1200 members to decide. It is my personal view that we should go to the membership."
Wednesdayite recently sent Sheard a list of 27, wide-ranging questions, and only some of the points were answered in his offer letter to them.
Keys added: "The more information he provides, the more chance he has of achieving his objective."
A report today suggested that Sheard will not offer Wednesdayite a place on the club's board of directors in exchange for selling shares.
It is also understood that former Home Secretary David Blunkett, an Owls fan, is advising Wednesdayite on whether to accept Sheard's proposals.
Meanwhile, midfielder Kenny Lunt is training with Crewe instead of being with the Owls in Holland - confirmation that he does not figure in Laws's plans.
The Wednesday boss, preparing for tonight's game against Telstar, said: "Kenny has been allowed to train with Crewe and have a chat with them. Nothing has been agreed."
