SHEFFIELD Wednesday are set to unleash Akpo Sodje in the next stage of their pre-season campaign.
The comeback striker went on the Holland trip and is in full training but was not used in the two friendlies abroad.

The games were played on an artificial surface and the Owls felt that this was not ideal for his newly recovered ankle.

But Sodje is keen to get back into the action and he looks set to play at MK Dons on Tuesday (7.45pm).

Manager Brian Laws confirmed: "We didn't play Akpo in the Holland games - but he'll be itching to play against MK Dons.

"On grass, there's no problem, But we didn't think that Astroturf was suitable for him."

Wade Small and new signing Jimmy Smith were rested for the second tour match after picking up injuries in the first and being lined up for further checks after the squad's return to England.

Smith took a knock on his ankle and went off just before half time in Tuesday's 2-0 win against Haarlem. Small dislocated two fingers in the same game.

Richard Wood sat out the Haarlem match after suffering a cut on his forehead in training but he played in the 3-0 win against Stormvogels Telstar on Thursday.

Wednesday face an MK Dons side who are under the new management of former Chelsea and Italy star Roberto Di Matteo; his "debut" for the League One outfit is against Reading today.

The Owls will also send a team to play Stocksbridge at Bracken Moor on Wednesday (7.45pm).

Wednesdayite are proceeding with their arrangements for a ballot on Geoff Sheard's offer for their shares - with no indication yet which way the vote will go.

Chairman Darryl Keys said: "Some of our members may feel that there are too many gaps in the information we have received. Some may not be concerned about the level of information and may just want a regime change; other may be 50-50 and may be swayed by whatever recommendation our board give. "It will be a very interesting exercise."

Carry on with the good football and try to forget about the queue for Middlewood.

That last paragraph, re Mr Keys: such negativity, at such an importan phase in developments, astounds me. I am utterly lost for words.
'Penrhyn Bay Owl' makes an important point, when he says, '...our club's future is at stake, here'.
Thank goodness the team has managed (so far) to collectively distance themselves from these goings on.

What happens on the field could be the crux of this situation. This year there is a new feeling of confidence amongst the playing staff and team manager.

Maybe we should ALL distance ourselves from Wednesdayite and the board. The more we carry on the more power they will perceive they wield and the more garbage they will come out with.

Play-offs and promotion should be our aim.

GO FOR IT BOYS-- Forget about these small minded ineffectual pygmies. THE REAL FANS ARE BEHIND YOU AND WANT YOU TO DO WELL.

Have a good season and these mugs wont even get another mention and we can all wrap our fish and chips in yesterdays newspapers!

Why can't Mr Keys and his board just leave well alone. Anyone would think he bought the 10% of the club with the way he carries on. YOU WERE GIFTED IT and so you do not have any right to continually stand in the way of progress.
If the majority of Wednesdayites agreed with you then you would have more than the paltry 2000+ members. The majority of loyal wednesdayites want you and yours out so why don't you just go.

if they reject this theres no chance anyone else will ever want to invest not after the amount of time and effort its took to get to this stage. Keys just please go away, run for local mp if you want a power fix, this is football not politics. Dont ruin what could be a massive season

I believe it is Mr. Hulley and Mr.Addy who are allegedly holding proceedings up. I understand Mr.Keys has told the media that Wednesdayite group are holding a ballot for the Wednesdayite group members' votes and of course, he won't know or can prophecy what the outcome of the ballot will be. Hopefully, it will be to sell the shares and for the take-over to have a quick and happy ending and we can start the next season on a high. I must say "well done" to the players for the good start to the season - let's hope it continues. Up the Owls!

I understand Mr.Keys and co think they are doing the right thing but unless Wednesday get taken over we will struggle financially we may get good results on the pitch this season but it only takes a couple of injuries and with no money to cover the short fall to bring in other players we may struggle again So to Wednesdayite and the other directors of the club GET THE DEAL DONE so we can make this club a force again.

How do any of you know what the directors of wednesdayite are recommending ?? i'm awednesdayite member and have not received the ballot papers yet. personally I'm for change and most of the people i have spoken to feel the same way. the thing people want to be worried about is Hulley and Addy holding the clubs future to ransom so that they can line their pockets....remember ALL the money Wednesdayite receive goes back into the club so its the clubs best interest V greed on the part of A&H
