Sheffield Wednesday 2 - Wigan Athletic 3

SHEFFIELD Wednesday came close to holding Premiership side Wigan Athletic to a draw – only to lose 3-2 in the last minute.
Amr Zaki made it a perfect debut for Wigan as he netted in to give Latics a narrow win, in this pre-season friendly, at Hillsborough.
Wigan went ahead in the 14th minute when a corner was headed goalwards by Emile Heskey and the ball deflected off King before beating the stranded Lee Grant.
Wednesday gave as good as they got and it was no surprise to see them draw level in the 16th minute. Tudgay slid a ball through for Jermaine Johnson, who beat Carlo Nash with a cool finish.
Wigan edged ahead as Bramble nodded in a corner from De Ridder with the ball going in via the far post, in the 36th minute.
Emile Heskey should have bagged a great chance in the 44th minute when he was played in by Kapo, but he blazed over.
Wednesday fought back into the game in the 54th minute from the penalty spot.
Figueroa took out Tudgay in the area and Dean Burton made no mistake from 12 yards.
It was left to Zaki to steal the glory in the last minute when Camara played him through and he found the far corner with deadly precision.

Owls: Grant, Hinds, Spurr (Gilbert 76), Wood, Beevers, McAllister, Tudgay, O'Connor, Sodje (Clarke 56), Burton (Boden 79), Johnson (Esajas 46). Unused substitutes: O'Donnell, R Lekaj

How on earth is Wednesday losing at home to Wigan showing Premiership spirit? Wigan, who finished 14th in last season's Premier League. Wigan!
Tonking Man Utd or Chelsea might just be showing Premiership spirit, but losing at home to The Mighty Wigan?
What next? Wednesday's low season ticket sales is Premiership spirit too?

Shorehamview, remind us again, which was the last team that Sheffield United played and lost to in their brief foray into The Premier League a couple of seasons ago?

Shocked at this SV, wasn't expecting the 'other lot' to bring up West Ham.....were you? Bit like Leeds really....think they're a massive club. If they were a massive club, they'd have been in the Prem over the last few years.

But what do we know? We didn't beat Arsenal or anything like that......
