BRIAN Laws confirmed today that Owls left-back Peter Gilbert has had a transfer request rejected.
The request was part of the controversy that saw Wednesday report Plymouth to the Football League about an alleged illegal aproach to the defender.

Although Gilbert played against Rotherham in the Carling Cup on Tuesday he is not a regular in the side.

Laws said: "I understand Peter: he wants to play in the first team. I can't keep 20-odd players happy all the time. That's part of the game. Peter has to accept that, and he has done.

"We are rejecting his request unless somebody comes in with the right kind of fee, because I've got to replace him.

"The only way I can replace him is with equality (quality) or better."

The Wednesday manager said that Wade Small is back in training after his hamstring injury, and Richard Hinds (ankle) and Jermaine Johnson (calf) are both fit for Saturday's game at Wolves after being rested for the cup tie.

Gilbert played out of position in Hinds's right-back spot against Rotherham.
