DEON Burton's place has been under threat in the build-up to today's game at Plymouth but Brian Laws refuses to lose faith in the Owls striker.
Wednesday manager Laws recently backed the Jamaica international to rediscover his touch after international travels and a dip in form cost him his club place.

Burton was unable to seize his chance on his return to the team for Tuesday's match against Forest, missing two easy opportunities and leaving himself still waiting for his first goal of the season.

But Laws still thinks that the striker can bounce back and show something like the scoring knack that made him the club's top league marksman for the last two seasons.

The Owls chief said: "At least Deon has been in there to miss those chances.

"I've said to him 'it will come'. His overall game against Forest was excellent.

"He held the ball up well and linked everybody together.

"He played a major part though he didn't get the goals he deserved."
Burton also had some bad luck on Tuesday night.

A goalbound header struck Mark Beevers and was diverted for a goal-kick.
Laws admitted: "He was so unlucky not to get a couple of goals."

Burton has lost his place in the Jamaica squad for two forthcoming World Cup qualifiers after figuring in summer games and two recent defeats against Honduras and Mexico.

He felt jaded after returning from his last international trip and Laws felt that this affected his play.

This time the striker will have a less hectic build-up to the Sheffield derby on October 19.

But it will be Jermaine Johnson's turn for travelling.
He will be away with Jamaica after his return to the national squad and he returns just before the United game.
