BRIAN Laws is warning his Wednesday players to steer clear of trouble as they head back into action.
The Owls manager wants no repeat of last year's tour controversy when two players were sent off in Holland.
He will also look for common sense from referees in friendlies - which begin with tomorrow's game against Haarlem - and has issued an appeal for non-fussy officiating.
"Players are going to make mistakes when they get down to playing again, and maybe make mistimed tackles because they're not up to speed yet," he said.
"We've asked the people in Holland to be aware of this.
"We don't want to be in the same situation we were in last year.
"Equally, it is players' responsibility to be disciplined, not do anything silly and treat referees with the same respect they would expect from them."
Last year Deon Burton and Chris Brunt were dismissed in separate games in Holland. Burton's dismissal was controversial, for a brush with the ref, and Brunt's was for a mistimed tackle.
"We don't want anyone being sent off for avoidable, things - and that applies to all games, not just friendlies," added Laws.
Burton has already vowed to make sure he stays on the right side of referees - though he and the Owls were puzzled by his red card last year, which came after a free-kick decision had gone against them.
"The ref sent me off for not coming towards him," said the striker.
"When you looked at the video, you could see me walk towards him - but it wasn't to his satisfaction."
