BRIAN Laws is delighted with the flying start to pre-season and believes that Wednesday are showing signs of curing last season's damaging lack of firepower.
The Owls had an undistinguished pre-season a year ago and were short of goals in the 2007-08 League campaign.
But they have beaten Haarlem and Telstar 2-0 and 3-0 in Holland, with Marcus Tudgay and Deon Burton each grabbing two goals.
"Last year the strikers weren't scoring. This time they have hit the ground running.
"Of course, it's early in pre-season, but it's a very good sign," said boss Laws.
"I think the competition for places is spurring them on.
Laws said of last night's 3-0 win over Telstar: "We could have had more goals and we played some great football.
"Luke Boden had a very good game in midfield, as did Sean McAllister."
Laws dismissed as "untrue" a report that Wolves have made a £1.75 million bid for Mark Beevers. Wolves too have dismissed the claim.
Wednesdayite chairman Darryl Keys has revealed that the group board's decision to ballot members on Geoff Sheard's offer for their shares was not unanimous but by a large majority and he has no idea how the poll of members will go.
Sheffield Brightside MP David Blunkett, who has been assisting fan group Wednesdayite, has referred to "legitimate unanswered questions and the need for urgent clarification and reassurances."
It is understood that Wednesdayite have not received full legal verification of Sheard's offer.
