Laws blasts Lunt loan snub

KENNY Lunt has turned down a loan move from Hillsborough - and received a dig from Brian Laws.
A pre-deadline offer was received from an unnamed club.

Lunt does not figure in the Owls first-team plans and they were willing to let him go but the midfielder rejected the move.

Laws would only say: "Players make me laugh when they say they just want to play games and when they do get an opportunity to play games, they don't want to go.

"It really does infuriate me at times."

Deadline week has been relatively quiet for the Wednesday manager, .

He explained last month after the loan arrival of Tony McMahon that financial constraints meant there would no further signings unless another injury crisis forced a rethink.

What do you think? Post your comments below.

The Owls also resisted Coventry's overtures for Richard Wood and do not want to reduce their small squad by letting their best young players go.

"We have made it very clear that if the likes of Coventry are trying to tap up our players, there's no way we are going to allow it," added Laws.

Meanwhile, Geoff Sheard is still insisting that his takeover of the club is on course and that funding is not an issue.

He said he did not want to publicly put forward a time scale for the ending of the saga but the people closely involved in the deal were aware of one.

Sheard also said he was aware of criticism from certain quarters and he suggested this may have been inspired by someone who had an agenda to discredit him.

The takeover frontman added: "I'm happy with the way things are. I apologise for the time it's taken."

Watford, the Owls' next opponents, will be without striker Grzegorz Rasiak when they come to Hillsborough. He is out for up to six weeks with a broken shoulder.

Pull your finger out Sheard.

This situation just isn't good enough.

You're stalling on the takeaway and wasting time. Get the deal done, or get lost!!

Do I sense a little unrest in the dressing room at Hillsborough?

why would you want 2 go 2 coventry, nice stadium, behind the scenes is spot on, went there last season, wednesday could learn a few things, but in football side of things, no bigger players then what we have, so if i was woody, i wouldnt go. but if this takeover doesnt happen, which in my view it wont, i think we will see our best players go and the manager, but after watchin the 1st half agaist preston, i think we can finish in the top 6, if not the top 2, but with this board and how this club is run, am afraid we will sell our best players. The PR of this club is so wrong, the way they speak to people is so out of order reference to the club shop, so if ur serious about this club mr sheard come and buy it and stop messing about, thought u was a few days away, that was a month ago, UP THE OWLS

Er, no - I'm quite able to criticise you on my own without being inspired (or otherwise) by anyone else.

How much time do you need? Seriously. If you've got the money, pay up and take control. If not stop messing us about.

THAT'S why you're being criticised.

i wouldnt compare it to the man city takeover in which a man in court for corruption and tax evasion hands over ownership but stays on as president probably something dodgy about it, maybe a quick way to release funds, if anyone knows a couple of tricks he would

Im happy Sheards not stating public timescales again, and also doubt the man city thing took one day, itll have been rumbling on behind the scenes for months most things like this arent made public too early (our takeover should not have been made public till july when a genuine offer was made then maybe less of you would be on sheards back)

Wesps.......are you doing hard drugs??? This is the longest takeover in the history of football. The bloke was the manager of Preston North End's club shop for god's sake. Still, cheer up everyone it will soon be Christmas!

The following is taken from the BBC sports website:

It looks like Sheard is a serial footy club collector/ time waster. This takeover will never happen - It has just become farcical:

Sheard has also denied reports that he had decided to invest in the proposed Major League Soccer franchise St Louis rather than the Owls.

"I was approached by Jeff Cooper, who is fronting the bid to have St Louis win one of the franchise slots, and I did have a lunch meeting with him three weeks ago," he said.

"That's as far as it's gone and nothing will progress with that until we're finished with Sheffield Wednesday."
