GRAHAM Kavanagh is refusing to rule out a Hillsborough return but keeping an open mind about his future after going back to Sunderland.
The midfielder who aided the Owls' survival fight in two loan spells has another year left on his Black Cats contract.

"I'd love to think it's not the end (of his time with Wednesday]," he told The Star.

"It would be nice to come back. But I don't know what's going to happen.

"I really enjoyed my time, though it was frustrating when I got injured. The atmosphere for the Norwich game was outstanding.

"The fans have been amazing. It's been tremendous that they have been so vocal, and it's been a big benefit to the team this season."

Kavanagh, who was given a canvas print of himself by a fan as parting gift, feels that the 36,000 attendance and atmosphere for the Norwich game showed to any potential investor how big the Owls' potential is.

What do you think? Post your comments below.

"It would be good if somebody comes in and gets hold of the club and turns it into the successful club it deserves to be," he added.

Kavanagh is one of three Sunderland players who have rejoined Roy Keane's outfit after being out on loan in the Championship.

The others are defenders Greg Halford, who has been at Charlton, and Russell Anderson, Plymouth.

Keane said: "They have all gone out and done themselves no harm. It shows a good side to them. They're back, and we'll see how things pan out."

Sunderland's former Wednesday goal ace Kenwyne Jones has been voted the club's Player of the Year.

He scored seven goals - the same number that he hit for the Owls in seven games while loan at Hillsborough from Southampton during Wednesday's promotion season.

He will receive his award before the match against Arsenal tomorrow.

I think there is no way we should even be looking at Kav. He was useful in his first spell but his second was poor at best. We need to be looking at good young players rather than journeymen type pros who are towards the end of their careers

I kind of agree but think we need an experienced player to fit alongside McAllister next season.

Not sure if Bolder is this man and Kavanagh is a better central midfielder than Watson.

The less said about Wallwork the better!

I find it strange that every player who has anything positive to say about the club says the fans are great but never have anything positive to say about the the board or Kaven Walker. Strange that especially considering that so many are cretins and other are worth sueing.

The players on loan love the club, the coaching staff and the fans but it is clear they DONT LIKE THE BOARD and the way they run it. Premier club bottom division management.

Why on earth would any player say anything about the board?! Players talk about the fans and the coaches, or the club as a whole, they rarely mention the board unless they've been asked a specific question by the press.

Anyway Kav did ok for us, but we shouldn't be looking at bringing him back. He's too slow now and his distribution is poor. Centre midfield is our weakest area - it'd be nice to see McAllister given his chance but we need someone who can pass the ball and link-up play. Kav, Watson, Wallwork, O'Brien, Bolder - none of them can do that job well.

defensively we are sound and most importantly young and still improving .
midfield is clearly the weak area of the team with a lack of creativity , defensive ability and scoring goals .
i say build a midfield around young mcallister . you do need experience in midfield but it doesn't always have to be players in their mid-thirties which we seem to plump for year after year .
if funds aren't available why don't we ever consider year long loans from the premiership like the songoo's of this world . ok they'd never be wednesday property but could offer quality and stability which has been sadly lacking of late and provide the impetus for a successful season without the panic loan deals at the end of the season just to survive .
