ETIENNE Esajas sees the Owls' action in his Dutch homeland as a chance to kick-start his Wednesday career.
The winger is determined to make his mark next season after having only six starts last season following a move from Vitesse Arnhem.

Manager Brian Laws has already admitted that Esajas has reported back for pre-season "looking a different player", and matches tonight against Haarlem and on Thursday against Telstar could offer the 23-year-old an opportunity to reinforce the message.

"I'm really looking forward to the games," said Esajas, who comes from Amsterdam.

"My whole family are coming to watch me - normally they go over to England about once a month.

"Last season was all right for me, not great. I started well, then had an injury; after that, Ididn't play a lot.

"I'm building up my fitness and looking forward to playing more games.

"I think I can play in this team. I always start well - I need to keep it going."

Esajas will not be the only one trying to impress Laws: all the available players are likely to be used during the tour matches to get everybody back in the swing of matchplay.

The winger believes that the Dutch teams will use their country's familiar style of possession football.

"I don't think they will beat us; we are a good side," he said.

"We have looked good in training and we are getting stronger and stronger.

"These first two games will be really good for us."

Wednesday are working on artificial pitches at their training base in Heiloo, where the Holland national squad work before international tournaments.

Laws said that the team's hotel and training facilities are excellent.

"We'll be having a steady build-up in our pre-season programme, treating each game slightly differently from the previous one," said Laws.

"Everything has gone well and we are looking forward to the games."

New signings Jimmy Smith and James O'Connor are in line for debuts on the tour.

There are takeovers, transfer rumours of a serious nature pending, a suspicion of skullduggery and power manipulation by w'ite and THIS is all you can come up with for "NEWS" Get some real reporters "THE STAR" or drop off. Seriously this is just garbage. We want to know what's REALLY happening at S6...

Nothing Lads, just been past in the car, looks pretty dead to me although the picture of the new away kit looks ok. Lets just give up on this takeover farce and concentrate on giving Brian and the boys support for the coming season cos I think we will do ok especially if we keep everyone fit.

Just listened to the BBC interview, for once the take-over sounds credible and likely except for the Boardroom 'dodo's' at Hillsboro' " Think this might be a good time to go on hols chaps" "Plenty of time to sell the shares before August when we are kicked out" "Make the rabble wait"

laws has assembled what looks like an exciting bunch of players and for the first time in a number of years i feel as this is going to be our year .
let the powers that be have their ego trip's behind the scenes and us real fans enjoy what goes on on the pitch starting with a good result tonight , and please god no red cards or career threatening injuries .
COME ON THE WEDNESDAY !
