DEON Burton is willing to face a test of nerve in the sell-out clash with Norwich at Hillsborough on Sunday.
The Wednesday striker missed a penalty in the showdown with Leicester.

But he insists that he is keeping the job as spot-kick taker and will have no qualms if a vital opportunity arises in the final game of the season.

"Marcus Tudgay has said to me that he's coming back off the injured list to take the penalties; I told him he's got no chance!" Burton told The Star

"I'll be taking the penalties. I've scored four for the club; my confidence is still high.

"I apologised to the lads at half time at Leicester, for my mistake. They told me not to worry and that kept me going. I'm going to carry on taking them" he said. "I know I've been having a lean spell. If I didn't score for the last 10 games of the season and we stayed up, that would do me.

"Before the Leicester game we knew we had to keep our fate in our own hands. We did that by beating Leicester. Now it's still in our own hands, going into the last game; only we can mess it up.

"So many different things can still happen on Sunday. What we do know for sure is that if we win we will stay up."

The match is now a sell-out in home areas, and with Norwich having sold more than 3,000 so far, an attendance of around 35,000 is guaranteed.

One area will remain empty - the north-west corner, between the North and West stands. This is not used, for safety reasons, with the police insisting on a "sterile" area to aid segregation of fans.

Meanwhile, Jon Sotnick today confirmed that he and his consortium have not pulled out of the race to take over the Owls, though the Geoff Sheard group appear to be favourites. Sotnick is understood to be still involved in confidential negotiations.
