WEDNESDAY would ideally want a comfortable win on Sunday – but if they earn victory the hard way they could be crowned the Championship's comeback kings.
The Owls are second only to promotion probables Stoke in earning points from games where they have gone behind.

There have been 12 League matches where Wednesday have trailed but still got something: they have won seven and drawn five.

Second-placed Stoke have recovered to win eight games and draw four ,
which gives them a two-point lead in the comeback table.

The "title" will be decided on Sunday when the Owls face Norwich at Hillsborough while Stoke face Leicester at home.

Of course the Owls would much rather take the lead and stay in command.
Steve Watson admitted: "Starting badly has become a habit. At least when we come back it shows the character we've got."

Boss Brian Laws says: "We have consistently conceded early goals but we are one of the most consistent teams at coming back."

Now Wednesday will bid to add another victory to the one earned by their fightback at Leicester – no matter how it is achieved.

A win of any sort will keep them in the Championship. Other points to look out for on Sunday include:

Wednesday, regardless of their own result, will be safe if Leicester lose at Stoke.

If the Owls lose, they will be safe if Southampton lose or draw at home to Sheffield United; Saints are only a point behind, like Leicester, but have a vastly inferior goal difference.

A point will be enough for Wednesday if Blackpool lose at home to Watford, or Coventry lose at Charlton, or Leicester draw.
The Owls prefer not to pore over the permutations and have their sights set on making sure by winning.

But knowing that they have the tenacity to bounce back and earn good results has given them a certain confidence during their survival battle. Last week's fightback will perhaps turn out to have been the most memorable one of 2007-08: a 3-1 victory in a vital match after they had gone behind and missed a penalty.

League games where Wednesday have trailed but then drawn or won:
Oct 20: Stoke 2, Wednesday 4
Oct 27: Owls 2 Blackpool 1
Nov 3: Plymouth 1 Owls 2
Nov 6: West Brom 1 Owls 1
Jan 1: Owls 2 Preston 1
Mar 8: Owls 2 QPR 1
Mar 11: Colchester 1 Owls 2
Mar 29: Owls 1 Stoke 1
April 1: Owls 1 Coventry 1
April 5: Scunthorpe 1 Owls 1
April 15: Owls 1 Plymouth 1
April 26: Leicester 1 Owls 2

There are two sides to this coin. I was at Charlton where we were 2-0 up in 20 minutes & lost. In 45 games, we have taken the lead first, just 8 times. In the other 37 the opposition have scored first, or it's finished 0-0. Can't make it out.
