A pub in Sheffield has had been shut down after police raised concerns about suspected 'criminality and disorder' at the premises.
The Terminus Tavern, in Darnall, had its licence suspended following an application by South Yorkshire Police and Sheffield Council.
Police said a review would be held in the coming weeks to decide whether the licence should be permanently revoked or the pub, in Main Road, should be allowed to reopen provided it complies with certain conditions.
Sheffield Commander, Temporary Chief Superintendent Shaun Morley, said: "We will take firm, faster action against any licensed premises where we have concerns about serious crime or disorder, in our efforts to keep the public of Sheffield safe.
"The Terminus Tavern is one such location and we have responded to those concerns appropriately by successfully applying to have the venue’s licence suspended.
"I hope this sends a strong message out to all licensed premises across South Yorkshire that we will not tolerate any action, or inaction, which places members of the public at risk while in your venue.
"We will continue to work hard with our licensing officers, legal teams and the local authority to ensure that all licensed venues in Sheffield and South Yorkshire are operating safely and within the law."
This is not the first time the watering hole has found itself in trouble with the authorities.
It was the subject of a licensing review in 2013 after a string of unsavoury incidents, including a mass brawl, saw police called there 12 times in the space of two years.
The pub was allowed to remain open then but a number of strict conditions were added to the terms of the licence.
