Overturned HGV leads to closure of major route between Sheffield and Manchester

An HGV has overturned on the A628 Woodhead Pass, leading to the closure of the major route between Sheffield and Manchester.

Woodhead Pass is not expected to fully reopen until around midday on Sunday, December 4

The road has been closed in both directions between the A616 at Flouch and the A57 at Mottram while the vehicle is removed. Traffic is being diverted via the A57.

The Highways Agency says the road is expected to reopen fully between 11.45am and 12pm.

It is not known at this stage whether anyone was injured in the crash.
